It's my last day in the U.S. before I head back to Thailand. Bangkok, to be specific. Rather than take three flights and stay up 30+ hours so I could get to Chiang Mai, I decided to spread it out and spend a day/night in Bangkok. Drink a few coconuts, have a nice meal, and enjoy the final day of my vacation. Seriously, if you haven't consumed a coconut before, try it. Amazingly refreshing. And no, "coconut water" from a bottle doesn't count. Trust me.
When I left Thailand in late February, I didn't really think I needed a vacation. I hadn't pushed myself to get in volume, heck, I hadn't pushed myself to do much of anything in 2013. Grinding so much in November/December had really taken its toll on me and I felt I deserved a break. And I responded by spending most of my time doing little to nothing. But even if I didn't have much on the agenda, I wasn't about to spend 'Burning Season' in Chiang Mai and from what I've heard from friends of mine, I made a really good call -- heavy, grey smoke blanketed the skies. The skies in California were much clearer.
Now, a month and a half later, I feel I have a much better grasp on things. In my last entry I lamented the fact that so much has changed but I've come to accept that change doesn't necessarily mean for the worse. So many of my friends have evolved, have bettered themselves and in the meantime, I was thousands of miles away doing the same exact thing. I find myself with newly found vigor, excited to get back to what is currently my little corner of the world and continue to grow.
Remember that spark, that desire, that itch to play I talked about? It's back.
