The Refusal

Due to the unreliability of Hold'em Manager, I decided to stop using it.  Well, for the most part.  I still plan on importing the games to take note of profits/losses and review particular hands, but I won't look at the red line.  I unchecked the "show EV winnings" in HEM and so far have successfully resisted the urge to click it.

Of course, it's easy to not care about the all-in equity when you're running as hot as I am.  Since I made the decision to no longer look at the EV line less than two days ago, I'm up $2k+ at the tables.  Surely posting that will lead to a horrific downswing, but right now I feel rather invincible.

I'm not sure whether to attribute the happiness to my recent run good or the fact that I'm not obsessing over the short term variance of all-in equity.  Probably a little of both.  I've definitely noticed my attitude is more positive when I grind, and I'm considerably less upset when I ultimately get the money in bad.  I used to be so bothered by being dominated that even when I won the pot I was still unhappy, but now I can enjoy my good fortune.  And if today is any indication, not sweating the EV line will help me get in more volume.
